Miniature goals like this one are usually part of ice rinks, like the one installed in the Ski Land shopping mall in Damascus, capital of Syria. The ice rink was the first of its kind in Syria, but its huge popularity inspired the northern town of Aleppo to quickly follow with another. The ice rink for Damascus was freighted by truck from Germany and assembled in the 10,000-square-meter modern centre. In contrast to the sweltering Syrian summer heat, the indoor mall offers air conditioning and cooler temperatures, making ice skating significantly easier. However, no goals have been set up on the rink, given that no one seems to actually play ice hockey in Syria.
