Description
The double chair sits in the town of Valladolid on the Mexican Yucatán peninsula. This particular kind of seating arrangement is considered to be typical of that particular region and it is referred by locals as “Los Confidentes”, meaning “the confidants". Its name reveals its purpose: an invitation to take a seat and engage in intimate conversation with someone close, like a friend or perhaps even a lover. Appropriately, the chairs are sometimes referred to as “the lovers”.
