Description
The European Larch (Larix decidua) is native to the Alps and Carpathian mountains of central Europe. It is a deciduous coniferous tree. Its needle-like leaves fall in the autumn, leaving its pale yellow-buff shoots bare until the next spring. Its bright yellow autumn colour is responsible for its popularity as an ornamental tree in gardens and parks. Its seeds, buds, and immature cones are an important food for some birds.
