Description
Tivoli in winter can quickly become too much. Squeezing all that gløgg, candied almonds and Christmas tinsel into such a small area. It almost makes my stomach turn. There’s nothing humble about it; it makes me think of Coney Island. Especially in the winter, when they’ve turned up the Christmas cheer to attract all the philistines. It’s also about tourism. First the cities were invaded by cars, which we’re now struggling to rein in again. And now we have a tourist invasion, which is proving catastrophic for cities like Copenhagen. One good thing about winter is that there aren’t as many tourists. It would be fine if we demolished the cruise ship quay and dropped mines in the surrounding seas.
